The Fisher-Yates shuffle (also known as the Knuth shuffle) is a mathematically proven algorithm for randomly ordering a list with zero bias — every possible outcome is exactly equally likely. All ticket numbers are placed into a list. Starting from the last position, the algorithm picks a random ticket from anywhere remaining in the list and swaps it into that position. It repeats this working backwards through the entire list. The ticket at position one in the final shuffled list is the winner. This guarantees every ticket has exactly the same probability of being selected, regardless of when it was purchased or what number it holds — the same method used in scientific research and cryptography.

If a competition closes without reaching its reserve value, the draw still goes ahead — no entrant loses their entry. Rather than a physical prize, the winner receives a cash prize equal to 75% of the total ticket revenue generated by that competition. The remaining 25% is retained by Win My Car. No refunds are issued to entrants in this scenario, as the draw still takes place and a winner is still selected.
